Wolf Conservation
June 21-23, 2022
Wolves in the Northern Rockies - wolf ecology, history of conservation efforts, and current management strategies:
Dr. Doug Smith, Project Leader for the Yellowstone Wolf Project (Senior Wildlife Biologist, Yellowstone National Park – Wolves, Elk, and Birds) joined us to discuss 28 years of wolf research in Yellowstone.
This professional development training exposed teachers to the many different perspectives that influence state wolf management strategies – from rancher, hunter, pro-wolf NGO, ecotourism guide, trapper, anti-trapping NGO, and more!
How can K-12 teachers appropriately incorporate wolf ecology and management challenges into their curriculum? We explored how to introduce students to complex natural resource management topics that are intrinsically linked to wild places not far from their own backyards.
